New is a good time for the Town of Tryon to repeal the ordinance —■against allowing dogs to run on. the streets without a leash. It has never been enforced. And dogs are only taken when enough pressure is brought by mad dog scare or packs of dogs have ruined so many flower and vegetable gardens. Repeal of the ordinance will help the feel ings of those conscientious people who don’t want to break laws but yet don’t feel it right for the offi cials to permit other people to violate them continuously. Repeal jk* ordinance and then when we so and so’s dog on the street without a leash everyone will know that a law is not being violated as far as being without a leash is concerned. . . . Mayor C. D. Stev ens reports that the Council has ordered a more rigid enforcement of the one hour parking ordinance on Trade Street and that offenders who are caught continually parking over one hour, will be brought be fore the mayor’s court for payment of fine and costs of action . , To night is the night of the regular duplicate bridge tournament at, Congregational Church House at 7:45.Congratulations to The Asheville Times on its new type for headlines. It gives the -Continued on Back Page _ Livestock King Presented Rural America Picture Jess Andrew, brother of Mrs. Edgar Rowe of Tryon was fea tured in the “Hello” story written by the American Meat Institute in several national magazines to ac quaint the public with some of the members of “The Meat Team”. In honoring him recently his associates and friends presented him with a valuable picture of rural America, painted in oils in exchange for his hat. But since the hat was the nearest symbol to a crown for the King of Live stock men the hat was returned to him. Mr. Andrew, who is president of the International Livestock Show in. Chicago, first became a* director of the show in 1913 and the owner of a new hat. He has clung to his old hat as a symbol and trademark for each of the succeeding shows. Part of the ar ticle is as follows: “Down on their farm in West Point, Indiana, Jess, Jess Jr., and Jess III special ize in turning grass and feed into better and better livestock . . . meatier type hogs, sheep and cattle. Jess somehow finds time to repre sent his county in the Indiana General Assembly and to occasion ally help out folks at Purdue Uni versity with their livestock prob lems.” SALUDA NEWS LETTER By Julia Ann Johnson.
