Feldspar Plant Rebuilding
Is Progressing
Spruce Pine.—A crew of about
40 men is at work rebuilding the
Feldsp&r Flotation Corporation
plant here which was damaged
by fire July 30th. • '
The dryer section, in which the
fire started, is being replaced by
a concrete and steel structure. A
30-by-87-foot addition, for storage
purposes, is being made to the
main building.
Spokesmen for the corporation
estimated that completed cost of
the rebuilding operation will be in
excess of $150,000. They1 anticipate
that the plant will be ready to
resume full operations about Oc
tober 1.
The new plant will have a capa
city for processing approximately
4,500 tons af rought material a
month. Prom this is produced feld
spar, fine mica and quartz sand.
Chief source of supply are large
deposits in the Piney Branch sec
tion near Spruce Pine. At the
time of the fire the plant was
