cade passing through Polk County
today on its way across the State
of North Carolina from Murphy
to Manteo, issuing a call to all
citizens to rally to defeat Russian
propaganda by broadcasting the
truth behind the lines of the Iron
Curtain. The motorcade is in
charge of Miss Phoebe Norton of
Raleigh who is mistress of cere
monies. The motorcade is escorted
through each county by the State
Highway Patrol. The program
starts in Tryon today at 1:30 p.
m., on Trade Street between Mis
sildine’s and Goodyear's. Pro
grams at Brevard and Henderson
ville were held this morning and
this afternoon the motorcade moves
on to Forest City for a perform
ance there at 3:30. General Clay
is the national head of the Cru
sade. Harold Stassen is national
director; Reuben Robertson of
Canton is chairman of the two
Carolinas and James G. K. Mc
Clure for Western North Carolina.
