At Chamber of Commerce
Mrs. Marvin C. Brandall, the
former Miss Sibyl Capps, hag been
appointed .office secretary of the
Tryon Chamber of Commerce,
President Matt O’Shields announc
ed Monday.
Mrs. Brendall has lived in Try
on for more than 25 years and
has served as secretary for va
rious business and manufacturing
concerns, and is familiar with
the aims and activities of the com
munity. In addition to her Cham
ber of Commerce work she will be
available as a public stenographer.
Mrs. Brendall succeeds Mrs.
Hanford Thompson who accepted
a position in the office of St. Luke’s
Hospital last May.
GOLF RESULTS
The first round golf results of
the Championship flight at the
Tryon Country Club are as fol
lows: Ed Sayre defeated Tom
Mize 4-3; Bill Lord over James
Arledge 3-1; Virgil Cox over Billy
Van Arsdale 2-1; Bert Acker over
Chas. Stratford, default; Fred Ed
wards over Bob Adams 6-5; Dr.
Horace Lyons over E. C. Prather
1 up; Clarence Edwards over Paul
Gibson 3-2, and Marion Palmer
over A1 Bowen 4-3.
The losers of the first round of
the Championship flight will make
up the second flight. In the third
flight Major A. R. Herron beat
Thomas Hair 2-1, and Jim Gibson
defeated P. D. Karsten Jr., 1 up.
All others in the third flight re
ceived first round byfes.
