The other night a television thea tre play “Not A Chance”, written by Thomas W. Phipps was pre sented with David Niven and Helen Hayes as the stars. In the current yQ^e of Town and Country, a full -JCge picture of Mrs. Thomas W. Phipps was shown 'holding model ing clothes for a noted firm. An other picture of a group scene showed Mrs. Nora Flynn at the ppening of an art gallery in New York .... Tonight is Duplicate Bridge night at Oak Hall hotel . . . Mrs. Sibyl Brendall, office secretary of the Tryon Chamber of Com merce reports a large number of renewal memberships in the or ganization to help carry on the work for the new year which be gan October 1. . . . Charles L. France of Toledo, 0., writes'* for a copy of The Bulletin about the death of Mrs. E. B. Allen. He said Mrs. Allen’s husband was his pastor for 17 years. Hospital Auxiliary Hear Dr. Taylor; Elect Officers Dr. George P. Taylor was the speaker at the quarterly meeting of the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxil iary which was held Wednesday afternoon at 4 at the Congregation al Church parlor. Dr. Taylor gave a very informative and inspira tional talk explaining why the I hospital is named for Luke, the New Testament writer and physi cian, and telling what aspects of Luke’s character and writings should be displayed in the hospital. The chief business of the meet ing was the annual election of officers which took place with-, the following slate of officials unan imously elected: President, Mrs. Harkness Smith ; vice president, Mrs. Geo. Holmes; recording secretary and treasur er, Mrs. Henry Hart; correspond ing secretary, Mrs. W. D. Prather. Several committee reports were heard and the treasurer empha sized that it was time for payment of annual dues and each member may send hers to the new treasurer, Mrs. Hentry Hart. All members present accorded Mrs. George Holmes, retiring president, and board a vote of appreciation for a fine year’s work. HOSPITAL NEWS The following patients were ad mitted to St. Luke's Hospital f Col. A. L. Smith, Miss Eva Avant, of Tryop; Mrs. Joshua Burgees of Mill Spring. The following were discharged: Delbert Case, son of Mrs. Beulah Case of Columbus; Mrs. John Gosnell, Tryon; Carolyn Green, daughter of Mr; and Mrs. York Green, Tryon; and Mrs. Nobje Hannon and baby daugh ter of Tryon.
