changed from Friday night to
Saturday at the Episcopal Parish
House on account of the football
game at Brevard Friday night . . .
C. M. Eargle. for many years,
coach and advisor. of the Tryon
football team, has been invited to
Inman, S. C:, tonight as a guest
of honor, along with his champion
ship football team of 1926-27. Mr.
Eargle was the first paid coach for
Inman. Today’s Spartanburg Her
ald has a picture of the team.
All forifter members now- live in
Inman or from a short distance,
and are expected to attend. It is
homecoming and Inman and Cow
pens will play at 8 Q’clock . . .. .
ABC BOARD NAMED
The Tryon Town Commossioners
Wednesday night named R. E.
Brantley, Elbert H. Arledge and
P. L. Bannette as members of the
Alcoholic Beverage Control com
mission. R. E. Brantley was ap
pointed chairman. The ABC
commission wfill haVe complete
local control over the location and
operation of the liquor store to be
opened in Tryon soon under state
law.
The Town Commissioners have
no control over the store, according
to Mayor C. D. Stevent, except to
name the members of the ABC
board and set the salaries. As soon
as the new board is organized the.
members will be trained in thir
duties by the Mecklenburg board
and each employee thoroughly
trained in his duties.
Mayor Stevens stated- that the
Town Council fixed the salary of
the chairman at $3,000 per year. He
will give full time. The salary of
his advisory members will be $600
each.
