ART The Lanier Library opens its winter Art Exhibits by introducing the water color work of Mrs. Her bert L. Chase, who is ont only a local artist, but the sister of one of our librarians, Miss Susan James. Mrs. Chase’s water colors are hung in the Holden Reading Room, and her work has the deli cate touch and pattern of the Orient. Her brilliant and irri descent color is as clear and excit ing as a lighted Chinese lantern. A former resident of Tully, New York, Mrs. Chase was a mem ber of the Art School of Sophie Newcomb College, New Orleans, La. She was also active in the Adult Education Group of Tully, N. Y., and exhibited at Tully Lake. Visiting and local artists are invited to leave their names and addresses with the librarian to facilitate these small one-man shows. It is the library’s hope this winter to bring to your at tention the work of many of our visiting and local artists.—Con stance Reynolds.
