MRS. N. R. RECTOR
Mrs. Newton R. Rector Sr., 53,
wife of N. R. Rector, owner of
Rector’s Cleaners and Laundry
here, died Sunday morning in St.
Petersburg, Fla., following a long
illness.
Surviving besides her husband is
a sister, Mrs. Grady Hubbard of
Florence, S. C.
The body will be sent to Tryon,
to arrive Wednesday at 9:20 a.
m. Funeral services will be con
ducted at the McFarland Funeral
Home Wednesday at 2 p. m., by
the Rev. Mr. Eschkaridge of St.
Petersburg and the Rev. Paul F.
Davis, of Tryon.
Burial will be in Tryon Ceme
tery. Pallbearers will be John W.
Cowan, Marshall Ballew, R. C.
(Dick) Burnett, G. Isham Hender
son, R. H. Brady Sr., and Ben
White.
Nelson Jackson Succeeds
Dr. Dye on Hospital Beard
Chairman C. D. Stevens reports
that at the September meeting
of the Board of Trustees of St.
Luke’s Hospital, the resignation of
Dr. Alex V. Dye as a member of
the Board was accepted with re
gret. He said Dr. Dye had served
as a Trustee for three years, rend
ering valuable service to the Hos
pital, and he asked to be relieved
of further duty.
At a meeting of the Board held
on Friday, October 26, Nelson Jack
son Jr., was elected to fill the
vacancy caused by Dr. Dye’s resig
nation. Mr. Jackson was a member
of the Board in the formation
years of St. Luke’s Hospital and
had much to do with its establish
ment and success. Mr, Stevens said,
“He is warmly welcomed to another
term of service.”
