Joe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monte Dedman, writ ing from Korea, said the condition of the people there is terrible. It was raining and th$ wind was Continuea on Baclf Page_. * TRYON THEATRE LEASED The Tryon Theatre has been leas, ed to the Stewart E. Everett Theatres, Inc., of Charlotte for a period of 10 years, according to announcement Thursday by R. E. Brantley, owner and manager of the local theatre. Mr. Brantley became sole owner of the theatre some time ago when he bought the interests of Russell S. Walcott and Samuel A. Bing-*' ham. The Everett Theatres operates a large chain of theatres and Mr. Brantley stated Thursday that it was a good concern and able to supply the community with the best pictures and service. Mr. Brantley, who took over the | management of the theatre shortly after the death of Charles W. Nessmith and later bought a third interest, was recently appointed chairman of the ABC Commission for the Town of Tryon. Sweatt Horse Wins At Madison Square Garden Rose Salome, owned by Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sweatt of Wayzata, Mjinn., and Tryon, took first place in conformation in the Hunter Class at the National Horse Show held in Madison Square Garden, New York City, according to in formation received by Ernst Mahler today. - - ' Mr. and Mrs. Sweatt are mem bers of the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club and take a leading part in promoting riding and jumping ac tivities in the community. Senator Robert Taft will visit North Carolina Nov. 27, 28, 28 on a lecture tour and will also visit groups at Asheville, Sedgefield and Durham.
