Tryon ’Sportsman Is Tops
In the current issue, of The
Chronicle, national horseman’s
newspaper, published in Virginia,
Austin A. Brown, president of the
Tryon Riding & Hunt Club, was
listed as the leading amateur rider
in the nation and Tommy Oliver of
Barrington, 111., also a member of
the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club, was
listed as second. Mr. Brown was
listed as the third best trainer,
and his horse, Foxy Poise, which
has won so many races throughout
the East, South and Midwest, was
listed as one of three leading brush
horses in the United States.
A Merry Christmas To AH
Among those who joined the list
of contributors to the Trade Street
Christmas Decorations last week
and had not been reported were
Morgan H. Morris listed in the
Post Office Dept. 100 per cent roll,
Missildine’s Pharmacy, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Huxley and Mr. and
Mrs. Seth M. Vining.
Play At Country Club
The Tryon Country Club Wo
men’s Golf Association are having
a bridge party today following
dessert at the club house. Approxi
mately 10 tables were listed at last
report. Mrs. Carroll G. Bennett is
president of the association and
Mrs. George Vance is chairman of
the entertainment. Plans are under
way to establish regular bridge
tournaments for the Country Club
women and to offer entertainment
for non-golfers and non-bridge
t players.
