ENTERED AS SECOND CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POSTOFFICE
AT TRYON, N. C. UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879
Tilt: Tim HUM BULLETIN
The World’s Smallest daily Newspaper.
Seth M. Vining, Editor
Vol. 24—No. 332 TRYON, N. C., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1951
Weather was cold this morning,
but the sunshine is delightful.
Warmer weather predicted for
Saturday .... One of the biggest
complaints now is the post office
door which has a Yale spring on
it so strong that when elderly
women open it the door almost
knocks them down. That’s been
that way for weeks and makes tax
payers feel, well, that’s just some
more government indifference. They
can give millions to Europe but
can’t fix one post office door. Post
master Henderson wishes something
could be done about it. The Ameri
can Legion owns the building. May
Ifee a special committee could get
yin act through Congress, to have
the job done. The manufacturer
of the spring- certainly would want
the thing installed properly especi
ally with the word YALE sticking
out on it in big letters. If it can’t
be fixed I wouldn’t have that kind
of spring. Discussing it at Mis
sildine’s where they have a similar
spring that works, Robert ' Ded
mondt. said the spring has to be
set at a 45 degree angle and that
the one at the post office is not put
up right. J. J. Pittman, mechanic
at Southern Mercerizing Co., agreed
with him. He said he could fix the
spring so it would work, that he
has had lots of trouble with them.
