tising Director Charles D. Parker.
He said 1951 was the best travel
year in history. The motor traffic
between Florida and the North
helps bring added dollars to hotels,
restaurants, service stations, gift
shops and real estate men as well
as all lines of business. The State
Bulletin also announces that Wil
F. McFarland has been elect

Chamber of Commerce, and that
M. M. Melvin, husband of the
former Miss Amanda Fisher of
Tryon, has resigned as Executive
Vice President of the North Caro
lina Restaurant Association. He is
the only man to hold the post in
the organization which has grown
rapidly since its organization five
years ago. .... Supper will be
served at the annual meeting of
the Tryon Country Club on Mon
day night at the club house. The
price of the supper is $1.50 and
reservations may be made through
Mrs. Carroll G. Bennett, president
of the Women’s Golf Association.

KILLED BY ELECTRICITY

Power Co., was killed
Wednesday when his body came
m contact with a high tension line
at Taylorsville, N. C.
The deceased is survived by his
widow, the former Miss Sibyl
Green; one daughter, Deborah; his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Allen
of Mill Spring Route 1; one sis
ter, Mrs. Mabel Taylor and one
brother, William Ted Allen, all of
Mill Spring.
Funeral services will be held at
the pea Ridge Baptist Church,
probably Friday afternoon. The
body will be at the. home of his
parents at Pea Ridge after 3 p. m
today.

Mrs. Pauline Butler, who has
been very sick with a severe cold
is improving.
Mrs. Maude Bishop McCallister
has returned from Columbia, S. C.,
where she attended the funeral
of her brother-in-law, Jim C.
Moore. Mr. Moore had visited in
Saluda several times.
Miss Pearl Beard has returned
from St. Luke’s Hospital in Tryon
where she has been for treatment.
The Fire Department answered
a call Monday morning to a house
which was reported to be on fire.
On arrival it was found to be a
frozen water pipe with a fine spray
which from a distance looked like
smoke.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stephen
son and daughter, Lucile Ann,
drove to Raleigh last week, carry
ing Joe Raymond, their son, and
Tommy Parker back to State Col
lege. While there they visited with
