New York Maneuver
Camp Drum, N. Y., Jan. 24.—
Pfc. Lee M. Burrell, currently
serving1 with the 11th Airborne
Quartermaster Parachute Mainten
ance Co., 11th Airborne Division,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Burrell,
Tryon residents, is participating in
the joint Army-Air Force man
euver “Exercise Snowfall” now
underway in northern New York.
The operation is designed to test
the latest in cold weather clothing
and. equipment and the battle
efficiency of the individual soldier
simulated combat and ad
weather conditions.
Pfc. Burrell enlisted in the
Regular Army in March 1951,
taking his Infantry basic training
at Fort Jackson, S. C. In May,
1951, he volunteered for parachute
duty and received his airborne
training at the Parachute School,
Fort Benning, Ga. Upon comple
tion of the course, the Tryon para
trooper joined the 11th Airborne
Division.
Prior to entering the service,
Pfc. Burrell was employed by the
Adams-Millfs Corp.
