BERGIN ON NEW TRIP
Edgar Bergen left Hollywood on
January 28th for another whirl
wind aerial junket, in which he
will visit military hospitals, a
Marine base in Havana, and will
play benefit shows at two small
towns—one in Texas and the other
in Florida—to express his appre
ciation for their outstanding con
tributions to his earlier “Opera
tion Santa Claus” tour.

ofwsurrounding towns, and expects
to have a crowd totaling three
times its normal population of
3100 gathered in a rodeo arena
for Bergen’s benefit performance
there on January 31st. The money
is to be used to help build a new
county hospital, and Bergen’s ap
pearance is his way of saying
thanks to the town for its re
markable contribution to his Santa
Claus trip to military hospitals
across the country.
“This little Texas panhandle
town contributed enough gifts to
take care of one entire hospital,”
said Bergen. “They were all
wrapped together into one huge
package and every store in town—
and almost every individual—was
represented.”
s.ergen and his wooden-headed
pals will be augmented by several
other entertainers for the tour.
