about six years before they helped
establish the present community

Landrum Philathea Class
Met With Mrs. Christopher
The Philadelphia Sunday school
class of the First Baptist Church
of Landrum met in the home of
Mrs. Baylis Christopher, with Mrs.
J. K. Nodine assisting.
The hostess used spring flowers
with greens to enhance the beauty
of her home. African violets were
used on the center table.
Mrs. A. J. Mitchell and Mrs.
Wade Staggs greeted the guests
with fancy, miniature, red hearts
inscribed with individual names
and Valentine greetings. Mrs. Jo
seph Lee, teacher, who was a mis
sionary to China, told of interest
ing experiences that she had while
in China. She also passed speci
mens of clothing that she and her
children had worn. She passed other
interesting objects, explaining the
way the Chinese used and displayed
them. Following this informative
talk was group singing. Sunshine
gifts were exchanged during the
social hour. Green and white deco
rated party' squares, Russian tea
and candy were served to Mrs.
