GRAND JURY REPORT
To the Honorable Allen H. Gwynn,
Presiding Judge:
We, the Grand Jury for Polk
County, serving during the Janu
ary term of Superior Court for
1952, have taken action on all
bills of indictments presented for
our consideration.
We have visited and inspected
in a careful manner the following
public institutions and properties of
Polk County, following are out
findings:
County Court House: Exterior
woodwork is badly in need of paint.
Heating svstem needs repairs. Fol
lowing offices need to be re-deco
rated: Veterans Administration;
county commissioners; clerk of
court; register of deeds; $ounty
superintendent of schools; county
asrent s and home demonstration
agent’s offices are in excellent state
of repair and condition.
Individual drinking cups should
be made available in chambers of
the presiding judge.
Health and Welfare Dept: A bad
leak over the stairway should be
repaired. The stove is in bad con
dition (grate burned out; cracked
stove back) and should be repair
ed. Walls are in badly need cf
re-decorating. Rest room needs re
decorating and repair.
State Prison Camp: This camp
has just been completed with the
exception of grass planting and
other landscaping. The buildings
are clean, well laid out and main
tenance appears to be excellent.
Living quarters excellent.
Areas used for storage, prepar
ation f*nd service of food are clean,
