MISS DIANA NASH
Miss Diana L. Nash died at
Pt. Luke’s Hospital Tuesday morn
ing, July 1st. Miss Nash was
born April 3rd, 1873 on the Isle
of Wight and came to this country1
as a young woman. She and her
sister, Miss Anne Nash, built the
first house in Gillette Woods in
1922 and her garden was one of
the show places in Tryon. Miss
Nash did newspaper work for
many years in both Chicago and
New York before coming to Try
on, and .was also an artist having
studied in Paris under Bougereau.
She was one of the early members
of the Lanier Club and a charter
member of the Tryon Garden Club,
in which she was active for many
years.
Services will be held at the
Church of the Holy Cross Thurs
day morning at 10:30.
TROOP 3 BOY SCOUTS
MAKE ADVANCEMENTS
Scoutmaster Harold Taylor of
Troop 3, (The First Baptist
Church) reports that the follow
ing Boy Scouts made advancements
during their week at the camp on
Lake Lanier: Austin Chapman,
Swimming and Rowing; Melvin
Covil, leathercraft; James Ballew,
Meredith Wilson and Charles Ross,
basketry; Ted Newhall, lifesaving.
