MRS. GEORGE MARTING
Mrs. Caroline Danis Marting,
50, wife of George Marting of
Columbus, died about 3 p. m.,
Wednesday while swimming in
Bradley’s pool in Green River,
near Holbert’s Cove.
State Highway Patrolman W.
R. Boyles, Coroner Otis Dalton
and Deputy Sheriff H. G. Laughter
said an attending physician be
lieved she died of a heart attack,
though he did not completely rule
out the possibility of drowning.
No autopsy was scheduled, however.
The officers said Mrs. Martin
rolled face-down in the water
while swimming in a deep section
of a bend in the river. A nearby
swimmer grabber her almost im
mediately, but lost his grip as he
carried her out and had to swim
back for her at once. He said it
took about two minutes to get her
out and then artificial respiration
was applied for about an hour to
no avail:

Mrs. Marti-ng was a native of
Maryland, the daughter of Michael
and Marion Kraus "Danis of
Czechoslovakia.
Surviving, besides her husband
and^parents are: two sisters, Miss
es Mary and Mildred Danis, and
one brother, Michael Danis all of
Cleveland, O.; and a daughter,
Mrs. Tom Regal of Cleveland.
Mrs. Marting with her sister.
Miss Mary Danis, operated Hotel
Tryon for a number of years, be
fore her marriage to Mr. Marting.
Since moving to Columbus she had
taken an active part in various
community affairs in Columbus
and Tryon.
