Lewis Lindsey and his department
are looking for the young boy
who broke into Hutch’s place the
other night and stole about 20
cartons of cigarettes. Parents or
ethers in charge of young boys
should check the apparent free use
ef cigarettes and question their
boys. Often these small burglaries
lead to greater danger and trouble.
. . . The Tryon Country Club Men’s
Championship tournament gets un
der way this week-end with the
qualifying round to be olayed Sat
urday or Sunday, and the first
round of the tournament the follow
er week-end, Sept. 5th and 6th.
• . An airplane, British jet
bomber, was the first to make a
round trio across the Atlantic in
one day Tuesday, from Ireland to
New Foundland, a distance of
4,144 miles. Actual flying time
was only 7 hours and 59 minutes,
as the plane stayed on this side
about 2 hours before taking off
again. Average soeed on return
trip with the wind was 606 miles
per hour and was made in 3 hours
and 25 minutes .... Rov Jack,
17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Jack, is a patient at St.
Luke’s Hospital, . . . J. Feder and

Harmon Field Commission
Announces Liffhtinff Plans
At a meeting of the Harmon
Field Commission held August 25,
the following proposal was enacted
into the Harmon Field by-laws and
regulations. And, since the Town of
Tryon owns the deeds, and holds
possession of the by-laws and regu
lations of Harmon Field, the orig
inal of the application made by
the Tryon Chamber of Commerce
and the proposal .of the Harmon
Field Commission to light the field
has been turned over to the town
manager for filing along with the
deeds and regulations.
Since the proposal that appeared
in The Bulletin, August 18th, it
has been necessary to make a few
minor changes brought about by
public suggestions.
In accepting these changes we
have incorporated them in the
I final proposal as follows in order
t to make it clearer to the public:
j “Be it resolved that subject to
i the acceptance of the Harmon
| Field Commission to direct, regu
j late and control Harmon Field, it
! is the intent of the Harmon Field
Commission to establish playground
lighting facilities on a portion of
the property known as Harmon
Field for the following purposes
and upon the following conditions:
“1. That the lighting facilities be
come a part of the Harmon
Field property.
“2. That the field lighting installed
for this purpose shall not be
used for baseball by any group
or organization.
“3. Field lighting shall be primar
ily for school activities.
“4. That all other uses to be made
of the said field lighting facili
ties shall be in the exclusive
