HOUNDS IN TRAINING
The hounds for the Tryon
Hounds have roaded extensively
the past few weeks by Huntsman
George Webster and Whipper-in
Ray Cochran, getting ready for
the fall hunts. Mr. Webster stated
Wednesday that there are 13
couples (26 hounds) ready for the
first hunt; and six more puppies
are being raised for replacement
next year.
Ernst Mahler and Carter P.
Brown are joint master of hounds.

HOSPITAL NEWS
Patients admitted to St. Luke’s
Hospital include Mrs. William A.
McFarland, Columbus; Kenneth
Wagner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee'
Wagner, R-l, Tryon. There were
no patients discharged.
Mr. and Mrs. John Paul Jones
of Tryon are the parents of a girl
born Sept. 3rd at 10:55 a. m. Mr.
and Mrs. William Brown of Land
rum are the parents of a boy born
Sept. 3rd, at 9:10 p. m.
The State Board of Elections
will investigate the theft of stolen
ballots in the second primary held
here this spring, according to re
ports from Raleigh.
Petitions containing the signa
tures of 53,000 persons have been
filed in South Carolina to permit
the people of the state to vote for
General Eisenhower for President.
