YOUNG DEMOCRATS MEET
The Young Democrats of Polk
County will meet Wednesday night
at 8 o’clock at the Court House
in Columbus, according to Presi
dent William A. McFarland. Plans
will be discussed for the district
rally to be held at Harmon Field
within the next few weeks.
LANDRUM NEWS

The Civic League of Landrum
met Friday afternoon, Sept. 5 at
3:30 in the Pavilion at Brookwood
Park with Mrs. A. B. Waldrop,
Mrs. R, A. Carruth, Mrs. A. P.
Caldwell, Mrs. Jack Stone and
Mrs. F. M. Hart acting hostesses.
Plans for cemetery clean-up were
announced by Mrs. R. L. Lee, date
to be announced later. Mrs. Lam
bright urged the League members
to plant more crepe myrtles to
heln beautify the community.
Mrs. J. tr. Landrum announced
that more parking space was to
be made available as soon as the
groung in back of the building was
leveled and the drain pipes placed.
Many improvements were discussed
by the group.
Informal initiation is being car
ried on now of the J. H. A. Of
ficers of the Landrum School. In
stallation of new officers will be
next week. President, Patsy Tuck
