THOMAS H. NASH
Thomas H. Nash 66, passed away
suddenly at his home in Tryon
about 3:35 this morning.
A native of Birkenhead, England
Mr. Nash came to Tryon from
Cleveland, Ohio about 2 and a
half years ago and bought a large
farm, “Tanglewood” near Tryon
where he was making extensive
improvements.
Funeral arrangements had not
been completed at press time.
Mr. Nash is survived by his wife,
the former Miss Nancy Van Gord
er of Cleveland; one son, Thomas
Nash Jr. of Beverly, Mass., and
one daughter, Miss Nancy Eliza
beth Nash of Willoughby, O.; three
sisters, Misses Anne and Margaret
N'ash of Tryon and Mrs. Winifred
Tillby of England; four brothers,
William of Cleveland; Richard P.
of Cleveland; John of England
and Humphrey L. of Royalston,
Mass.
The Nash family has been ident
ified with civic and cultural life
of the community for many years.
Polk Residents Give
144 Pints To Bloodmobile
Polk County volunteers Wednes
day donated 144 pints of blood to
the Asheville Regional Blood Cen
ter for regional and defense needs.
The program was sponsored by
the Polk chapter of the American
Red Cross.
Six became* members of the Red
Cross’s Gallon Club as each of
these volunteers appeared in the
donor room for the eightth time.
They were Leonard C. Porter,
James J. Pittman, Paul Culber
son, J. F. Connor, James Dowda
and Mrs. Agnes D. Bacon.
