Kiwanis 25th Anniversary
Program Here Tuesday
The Tryon Kiwanis Club will
celebrate its 25th anniversary
Tuesday night, October 21, at 7:30,
with a ladies night program at
Oak Hall hotel.
Chairman J. Albert Simpson of
the program committee has an
nounced that District Governor Joe
O. Tally Jr., mayor of Fayette
ville, will be the chief speaker.
Lieut. Governor M. E. Gambrell
of Hendersonville will present 25
year membership pins to Chas. J.
Lynch and Seth M. Vining. Carroll
j P. Rogers, the first president of
the club was originally a member
of the Hendersonville club and
received his 25 year pin several
years ago. He transferred his
membership to Tryon and became
also a charter member of the local
club and later lieutenant gover
! nor of Division One. He will be
toastmaster Tuesday night.
Craig B. Thomas has arranged
a program of music featuring John
Eversman, violinist, and group
singing by the assembly. The
invocation will be by Rev. LeRoy
D. Leppard. Seth M„ Vining,
president of the club will welcome
the guests and introduce visiting
Kiwanians representing clubs
which took part in the charter
meeting program 25 years ago.
The clubs to be represented are
Hendersonville, Asheville, Bre
vard, Rutherfordton, Shelby and
Spartanburg. In addition to those
clubs other guests will include the
Immediate Past District Governor
Joe T. Chiott and Mrs. Chiott of
Asheville; former Lieutenant Gov
ernor R. E. Price and Mrs. Price
of Rutherfordton; Mrs. Joe Tally,
wife of the governor; Mrs. Gam
brell, wife of the lieutenant-gov
