School Superintendent Brank Proffitt of Tryon has been elected chairman of the Polk County Boy Scout District. MELVIN RHODES Melvin Rhodes, 56, World War I veteran and son of Mrs. Elizabeth Rhodes died Thursday night of a heart attack. Funeral services will be announc ed by the McFarland Funeral Home upon arrival of a son from the Navy. The Rev. Henry Hearn will officiate. Besides his mother, Mr. Rhodes is survived by three sons, Lynwood, of the U. S.
