has returned to Tryon from his
holiday vacation and those of you
who are keeping a record of the
temperatures and rainfall can rec
ord that 61 was the highest for
the period and 19 the lowest. Most
of the time the weather was 40
to 50 something. Not had. Rainfall
only .06. Not reported is the rain
fall last night which will be given
in Thursday’s paper. Over an inch
has fallen. . . . Treasurer John

LIST YOUR TAXES
James E. Johnson, county ac
countant and tax supervisor, spoke
on county taxes at the Kiwanis
Club Tuesday at Oak Hall. Mr.
Johnson stated that every 4 years
there is a re-valuation of proner
tv and that the property in Polk
County will be re-valued in Jan.
The speaker stated that the Coun
ty Commissioners had appointed a
lister and two assessors for each
township in the countv and that
everyone must list both real and
personal property.
Mr. Johnson said that in the
past, only 33 per cent of the
people in Polk County had listed
their property and the rest were
re-copied irom tne tax books, but
that if they didn’t list their prop
erty this time they would be
assessed a penalty of 10 per cent
of the property value. The speaker
stressed the fact that the cooper
ation of everyone is needed to
make the re-valuation a success.

Kerby, Tryon, and Michigan City,
Ind.; Arthur Carlson, Chardon,
Ohio; Lloyd Carlson, Tryon; and
Rupert Koch of Hendersonville.
Craig B. Thomas was in charge
of the program.

York has purchased through W.
M. Hester a homesite on Hogback
Mountain road near Mrs. John
Darnall, and expects to start
building in January.
