HONOR COURT MONDAY
The Polk County Boy Scout
Court of Honor will be held Mon
day night, Jan. 19th, at 7:45 at
the new High School building in
Tryon.
The Scouter supper will be held
at 6:30 in the school cafeteria.
All men interested in Scouting are
invited to this meeting also, just
for the price of the meal.
MRS. EMILY LAWTER
Mrs. Emily Lawter, 79, died on
Wednesday morning at 9:45 at the
home of a sister, Mrs. Della Hill,
at Cherokee Springs.
She was a native of Mill Spring
and was visiting her sister at
the time of her death'
Surviving are three sons, Boyd
Haynes of Gastonia, Lee Haynes
of Mill Spring and Joe Haynes of
Edneyville, N. C.; two daughters,
Mrs. Henry Dimsdale of Kansas
City, Kansas, and Mrs. Lonnie
Hill of Chimney Rock, N. C.; two
sisters, Mrs. Hill of Cherokee
Springs and Mrs. Vellia Blanton
of Mill Spring; 22 grandchildren
and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conduct
ed Friday at 2 p. m., at Cooper’s
Gap Baptist Church near Lake
Lure by the Revs. W. H. Lawson,
H. E. Benfield and E. C. Chat
ham. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
The following nephews will
serve as pallbearers: Harrison
Jones, Flovd Jones, Wilbur Hill,
Melvin Hill, Bynum Blanton and
Bunyan Blanton. The body will be
at the home of Mrs. Harrison
Jones at Cherokee Springs after
