the United States today when he
takes oath of office before Chief
Justice Fred Vinson. Thousands of
visitors are in Washington for the
event and there are parties, pa
rades, speeches, dances galore. Al
so religions services of prayer for
Cod’s guidance. In Trvon special
prayer services were held at the
Theatre from 9:30 to 9:55 when
the stores closed and employees
end customers all went to the
prayer service. The Theatre was
filled to overflowing in a few
minutes. This is a big day in the

HONOR COURT RESULTS
The Polk County Boy Scout
Court of Honor was held Monday
night at the Tryon High School
building with Chairman J. T. Ar
ledge, presiding.
The meeting opened with prayer
by the Rev. Henry Hearn, follow
ed by the Scout oath led by Scout
Executive R. M. Schiele.
Serving on the court were Wm.
A. Burgess, B. B. Flynn, R. H.
Brady, J. T. Arledge, Brank
Profitt, Ralph Farthing and. Mr.
Hearn.
Mr. Schiele made a number of
announcements from headquarters,
which included a gift of new
Scout books for every Boy Scout
from Kelson Jackson who also
donated BOO merit badge books for
use of the various troops in the
county. The Scout executive also
stressed the importance of the Bov
Scout oath, the sacredness of it
and the influence it had on mil
lions of men who have been Boy
Scouts.
Nat’onal Boy Scout Week was
announced for February 8 to 18.
