to the public for all who wish to
join other friends in an entertain
ment program for the benefit of

PLAYOFFS START FRIDAY
A sectional basketball tourna
ment to determine who will repre
sent this county in the District
tournament to be held at Valdese
will begin Friday night at the Co
lumbus gymnasium. Friday night
a preliminary game will be nlayed
between the Saluda and Mill
Spring girls at 7 and immediately
following this game will be Tryon
vs. Mill Springs (bovs.) Satur
day night Tryon girls will play
either Mill Spring or Saluda in
the preliminary game, and at 8
o’clock Saluda bovs will play the
winner of the Tryon-Mill Spring
game held Friday night.
Trvon Horses Win Again
A number of Tryon horses went
to the Camden, S. C. Hunter Trials
Saturday morning and came away
with first pri7os. George Si Bran
non’s Farmer’s Joy, shown by
Arthur Reynolds, won the light
weight hunter class; Mrs. Jane
Oagnier’s Do I Dare, won first
place in the middle and haavv
we'ght class: and her Lark Heels
won second place in the same
class. A hunt team composed of.
horses of Mrs. Gagnier’s and Ar
thur Reynolds won second place
in that class.
In the afternoon following the
Hunter Trials a groun of Tryon
rulers including Miss Mollv Wash
burn, Arthur Reynolds, Rill Brae
mer and Buckv Reynolds, took
part in the Camden Hunt.
Spartanburg’ is having its muni
cinal election today. Neville Hol
combe js opposing Mayor White
side for mayor. Other candidates
are for council and public water
works commission.
