P. H. Oliver of Barrington, 111.,
has donated a trophy for the Ama
teur Class in the Hunter Trials to
he held March 14th. The Pine
Crest Trophy, donated by the
Charles B. Sweatts of Minneapolis,
Minn., is a perpetual trophy to be
held one year by the winner of the
Open Class. Those interested in
seeinsr these trophies and the rib
bons to be awarded may see them
on display at the Tack Shop where
there is also a layout of the
courses to be ridden by partici
pants in the Hunter Trials.—Con

is Amos D. Foster Jr., seaman,
VSX. son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos
P. Foster of R-l, Tryon. Before
entering the Navy in Feb. 1951,
he attended high school in Mill
Spring.
Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Dye
are spending several weeks in
Florida. Mississippi and Louisiana.
Manganese, one of the minor ele
ments -,n plant nutrition, is thought
to play a similar role in animal
health.
