The Town of Tryon recently
purchased some new equipment
for its street department including:
a truck and Caterpillar motor
grader. The Street Department
has been active the past few days
drilling and dynamiting rock be
tween the Rock Grill and the ABC
Store where additional parking
space is being made. The State
Highway Department is removing
the dirt with big shoved and
trucks. A long line of 10 inch water
main is along Highway 108 in
the town limits to the Rock Bridge
and will be put in the ground soon.
This was necessary to take^care of
water customers in that area. Con
sumers have outgrown the six inch
line. Mrs. Charles MacDonald has
been appointed registrar for the
coming municipal election. Elec
tion judges will be announced
later. A three lane highway will
be marked off soon at the Wilkins
corner, intersection of Highwav
108 with No. 176. Traffic bound
toward Columbus will be permit
ted to (ro straight through the red
light. Traffie headed toward Salu
da and Asheville will take the
center lane and wait for the green
light. The Town of Tryon office
is undergoing remodeling to im
prove efficiency of the office and
convenience of the taxpayers.
The Coleman Pool Co., of Green
ville is building a 16 x 34 swim
ming pool at Lynncote for Mr. and
Mrs. C. P. Rogers.
