Mrs. Elizabeth Solesbee
Mrs. Elizabeth McClure Solesbee,
57, widow of Wilson Solesbee,
passed away Wednesday noon at
her home in Upper Greenville
County, near Tryon, following1 a
short illness.
Funeral services will be held
Friday afternoon at 3:30 at the
Gowansville Baptist Church with
the Revs. Robert E. Campbell, B.
B. Vaughn and F. L. Lankford
officiating.
Mrs. Solesbee had been a promi
nent truck farmer and grower of
flowers most of her lift and car
ried on her trade throughout this
area in Polk, Spartanburg and
Greenville counties.
Mrs. Solesbee is survived by
11 children as follows: Clarence
Solesbee, Mrs/ Lola Rollins, Daniel
Solesbee, Misses June and Betty
Solesbee, all of Gowansville, Mrs.
Brooks Staggs of Motlow, Mrs.
Ellis Jennings of Landrum, James
Solesbee of Lyman, Earl Solesbee
of Tigerville, Woodrow Solesbee
of Greer and Berly Solesbee of
Inman. Also three brothers, Ed
McClure of Saluda, N. C., Alander
McClure of Landrum, Joe McClure
of Washington, D. C., and one
sister, Miss Dovie McClure of
Landrum^
Petty Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements.

lumbus, Ohio, where she will ad
dress the closing banquet of the
National Convention of College
Deans which will be held at Ohio
State University on April 4th.
The Ecusta Paper Division of
Olin Industries, Inc., located at
Pisgah Forest, N. C., has receiv
ed the first place award in the
1952 safety contest in the Class
“A” section of the Pulp and
Paper division from the National
Safety Council. Ecusta manufac
tures cigarette and other fine flax
papers. The company reduced its
accident rate from 23.54 in 1941
to 1.41 in 1951 for which Ecusta
received second place award. Last
year the rate was reduced to .42
as compared to 9.03 average for
all mills in its group.
