“One of the major unsolved
problems of the sun,” says Dr. W.
0. Roberts, “is the mechanism by
which gaseous iron, calcium and
a few other metals in the sun’s
corona, pearly-white atmosphere
that extends at least 300,000 miles
all around the sun, are stripped
of about half their electrons by
tremendous temperatures.”
