John Robert (Bob) Pack, 64,
died at 12:15 shortly after midnight
Friday morning at the home of
his sister, Mrs. W. J. Holbert, on
Trvon R-l.

urday afternoon at 3 at Peniel
Baptist Church with the Rev. Fur
man Jackson and the Rev. Ralph
Cochran officiating. Burial in
church cemetery. Petty Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
After 5:30 p. m., the body will be
at the home of his sister, Mrs. W.
J. Holbert on Tryon R-l until
hour of service.
Pallbearers will be the follow
ing nephews: Arthur, Hoyt, Cecil
and Clarence Pack, Yates Wil
liams and Thaxton Holbert.
The deceased was a native of
Polk County, a son of the late
John E. and Luster Henderson
Pack. He is survived by four sis
ters and two brothers as follows:
Mrs. W. J. Holbert of Tryon R-l,
Mrs. T. J. Holbert, Johnson City,
Tenn.; Mrs. J. H. Williams, Mill
Spring R-2; Mrs. Rov Thompson,
Saluda; George Pack, Columbus
and W. F. Pack, Mill Spring.
General Sturgis Here Today
Major General Samuel Davis
Sturgis Jr., recently appointed
Chief of Army Engineers by Presi
dent Eisenhower, arrives in Tryon
this afternoon with his wife for
a visit with his mother, Mrs. S. D.
Sturgis, and his sister, Mrs. Stanis
las Czetwertynski at Lynncote.
General Sturgis, a native of St.
Paul, Minn., attended the Uni
versity of Minnesota and was
graduated from West Point En
gineering School. He commanded
a corps of Engineers in World
