SALUDA NEWS NOTES By Miss Julia Ann Johnson Mrs. Maude Bishop McCallister has announced the marriage of her daughter, Mary Elizabeth, to Jim Russell, major in the U. S. Army. The wedding will take place in the Presbyterian church in Sa luda on Saturday, April 4, at 4 o’clock. They expect to' live at Fort Raleigh, Kansas, for a while. The Women’s Society of Chris tian Service of the Methodist church will hold their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, April 1, at 4 o’clock with Mrs. J. C. Hol combe as hostess. Mrs. Homer Taylor will have the program, the subject being “Have Thine Own Way”. lhe Home Demonstration Club met with Mrs. Roy L. Johnson Monday, March 23, at 3 p. m. and 16 members were present. Mrs. Paul Culberson and Miss Wright were visitors. The demonstration was more good meals for less money and the members exchanged flower cuttings at the close of the meet ing. Refreshments were served. The meeting of April 27th will be with Mrs. Elbert Pace Jr., the president of the club. The Red Cross nursing course will be the second and third weeks in May three night in each week. All wish ing to take this course will register with Mrs. Roy L. Johnson. There is no age limit. This is especially nice for high school girls, says the leader. The Baptist church will start a revival service at the church on Sunday, April 5th, and the preach er will be the Rev. Lawrence Erwin of South Carolina. The pastor the Rev. F. M. Huggins, has an nounced a prayer service each night preceding the meeting. Mon day night, March 30th, at the home of Mrs. R. L. Savage, Tuesday night, March 31, at Mr, arJJftllrs. Wayinon Pace, and Wednesday night at the church, Thursday night at Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Ar ledge, Friday night at Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Johnson. Ulysses Pace, M|Sgt. in the U. S. Army is in Korea and is on the front line. His wife had a letter this week from him saying he had been recommended the Nation’s third highest award, The Silver Star, for gallantry in action and was asked to take a battlefield commission. He is in the 2nd infan try division. Recently he ran nto a home town boy, Hubert Garrett, and had a long talk.
