One for Mayor and Eight For Commissioner In Town of Tryon Race Town Clerk C. O. Smith stated Tuesday morning that C. D. Stev ens, incumbent, was the only can didate filed for mayor in the com ing municipal race on May 5th. i Names filed for commissioner in I eluded incumbents, E. L. Tollison and Ernest Kerhulas. R. B. Scruggs did not seek reelection and the following names were filed either in person or by friends: Dr. George Farrand Taylor, Harri son Bridgeman Jr., Bob Adams, George D. Cooksey, Eugene Jones, Charles Lankford. Dr. Taylor has asked that his name be withdrawn; that he appre ciates the confidence of the friends who nominated him; and would be glad to serve all the community in any way possible, but since so many fine candidates have filed for the office he does not think it neces sary for him to be a candidate. The remaining candidates are all business people and it will be up to the voters to decide which three of the seven they want to repre sent them in managing the town’s affairs. HOSPITAL NEWS Patients admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital include Mrs. J. W. Wel born Jr., Miss Myrtle Richards, and Eugene Owens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cephus Owens, all of Tryon; Mrs. Donald Jones, Colum j bus. Patients discharged include Mrs. Ernest Ford, Landrum; Mrs. Alma Turner, Columbus; Mrs. Ralph Lawrbnce, Tryon. Mr. Mrs. Walter Pace of Lynn are parents of a son born April 21 at 4:20 a. m.
