Tuesday morning that C. D. Stev
ens, incumbent, was the only can
didate filed for mayor in the com
ing municipal race on May 5th.
i Names filed for commissioner in
I eluded incumbents, E. L. Tollison
and Ernest Kerhulas. R. B.
Scruggs did not seek reelection and
the following names were filed
either in person or by friends:
Dr. George Farrand Taylor, Harri
son Bridgeman Jr., Bob Adams,

Charles Lankford.
Dr. Taylor has asked that his
name be withdrawn; that he appre
ciates the confidence of the friends
who nominated him; and would be
glad to serve all the community in
any way possible, but since so many
fine candidates have filed for the
office he does not think it neces

The remaining candidates are all
business people and it will be up
to the voters to decide which three
of the seven they want to repre
sent them in managing the town’s
affairs.
