WAYMON GETS OVATION
Eunice Wayraon, 19-year-old
^tighter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Fjlymon of Tryon and a student
di Vladimir Sokoloff of the Curtiss
Institute of Music in Philadelphia,
received an ovation from her
friends and music lovers at the
Tryon school auditorium Tuesday
night, as she was called back for
encores.
Miss Waymon was presented in
a piano recital under the joint
sponsorship of the Kiwanis, Lions
and Rotary clubs together with the
Eunice Waymon Fund Committee
which is intereseted in furthering
her musical education.
Despite many other activities in
the community the center part
of the auditorium was full to
overflowing. Due to the position
of the piano in the center of the
stage the view of the keyboard
of the piano and the hands of
the pianist were blocked. At m
Tnpnission the piano was moved
*>H|htly and many people on the
right of the auditorium, moved
over to the left and those in back
moved forward. The audience was
filled with distinguished guests,
composers, musicians of various
types including concert pianists.
But even the little children were
captivated under the spell of her
music. She played with great feel
ing as well as technical skill the
works of Bach. Beethoven, Litz,
Brahms and folk melodies of her
own improvisation. .
Following the recital many
friends went back stage to con
gratulate her and new friends
were made for the Eunice Wavmon
Fund.
