NEW P.-T. A. OFFICERS The Landrum P.-T. A. will meet Monday night at 7:30 at the Land rum grammar school auditorium at which time the new officers will be installed. A film on the various activities of school will be shown and refreshments will be served i:i the social hall. Bridge Tournament Results The annual Tryon Contract Bridge Tournament came to a close Sunday night at Oak Hall hotel with the Team-of-Four cham pionship completing a successful three-day ACBL Sectional meet. Over 100 ACBL members, includ ing many of the South’s ranking masters, competed with players fromi both Carolinas, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, California and Illinois. Winners of the Mixed Pairs championship held in two sections Friday night were Miss Marjorie Wagar, of Atlanta, Ga., and Jim Jackson, Tryon life master, who put together 142 points for a strong 66 per cent score. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Ward of Snartan burg, S. C., finished second with 140 points. Third with 137% points were Mrs. A. D. White of Asheviil* and William D. McKee of Sylva. ivuss iviarjone Wagar and J. A. Walton of Atlanta captured the coveted Open Pairs Champion ship on Saturday with 222% points, after leading the qualifying round with a 74.5 per cent game, scoring 232% with 156 average. Mrs. Hugh Nelson Page and Mrs. H. H. Kap lan of Asheville were runner-up with 206% points. Dick Kaplan of Asheville and John Dunne of San Francisco, Calif., finished third with 205%; fourth, Ed Jaffre and J. S. Mitchell of Char lotte, 201; fifth, Mrs. Margaret Wagar, Atlanta and Jim Jackson, Tryon, 200%; and sixth, Mr. an;i Mrs. Chester Ward of Spartanburg with 200 points.
