Master Point will be played June 5th. A picnic supper and golf tourna ment in celebration of National Memorial Day will be a special event at the Tryon Country Club this Saturday, according to Pro Ted Fox. The two-ball Scotch foursome golf tournament will begin at 1:30 with prizes for various contests such as low putts, longest ball, etc., more or less. Closing Assembly Winners Winners of the various awards at Tryon school closing exercises Wednesday morning were as fol lows: World Peace Medal, pre sented by George Vance for the Rotary Club, went to Melvin Hipps; American History Medal, presented by Wm. A. McFarland Jr., for W. O. W. went to Fred Bridgeman for 1952 and to Louise Knight for 1953 for outstanding work: W. S. Green 6th grade cup, presented by Mrs. Elbert H. Ar ledge to James Ferguson IX; James R. Trowbridge 7th grade cup, presented by Brank Proffitt to^Jimmy McCain; Nelson Jackson 8tn grade cup, presented by Nelson Jackson to iNancy Randall; Ki wanis cup for leadership, charac ter and citizenship, presented by P L. Barnette to Fred Bridge man; Rotary cup for service to school and community, presented to Franklin McKaig by George Vance, vice president of Rotary. All cups were presented for out standing school work and qualities of good character and citizenship in the various grades.
