Two Youths Burned
William Eargle “Tick” Butler,
10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Butler; and Jim Fisher,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fisher,
also about 10, were severely burned
Monday when they built a camp
fire with gasoline at Lake Lanier.
Their clothing caught fire and
both boys had to jump in the lake
to save their lives.

| Hi Neighbor Quartet Here
The famous Hi Neighbor Quar
tet of Anderson, .Sf C., will give a
free performance Thursday night
at the Tryon High School at 7:30.
This quartet noted for radio and
personal appearance programs
throughout this area is cooperating
with the Blue Ridge Safety Council
meeting. The public is invited to
hear the quartet and take part in
the program.

is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hos
pital in Asheville for tonsilectomy.
Mayor Stevens Urges Public
In a statement to the Blue Ridge
Safety Council, Mayor C. D. Stev
ens of Tryon says he hopes every
body will attend the safety meet
ing to be held at the Tryon school
auditorium Thursday night at 7:30.
He says the experts on safety
measures who will speak to us;
the Hi Neighbor Quartet and the
free refreshments should make
a delightful and worthwhile eve
j ning for all citizens.
The mayor said any program
for the development of safety in
the home, the highways and in
dustry should be encouraged.

visiting Mrs. Morris’s mother, Mrs.
