Vining, Editor 7, 1953 LANDRUM MAN HURT i AS TRUCKS CRASH A Landrum Route 2 man was in- j jured this morning when two trucks collided head-on on a one lane bridge near Landrum. j Alvin Norris Fowler, 28, was ! admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital I in Tryon, State Highway Patrol man Harry B. Ray said Mr. Fow ler received back and leg injuries, and face cuts. He was reported “resting fairly comfortably” Thursday night. The patrolman said Mr. Fowler was driving a 1949 Chevrolet panel truck that was in collision with a 1951 International truck. The two vehicles crashed head-on on Earl’s Bridge on the Ruther fordton Road about three miles east of Landrum. Patrolman Ray said Izell Green, 33, of West Palm Beach, Fla., I was driver of the other truck in volved. He was not injured. This truck belongs to J. C. Powell of Hendersonville. PANTHER ASKS NEW RULING IN DRIVING CASE Hendersonville, Aug. 6.—Sheriff Loyd Panther of Polk County, whose automobile driver’s license was suspended for a year by the Department of Motor Vehicles, has asked that the suspension be re voked, Monroe M. Redden, his at torney, said here today. Panther was arrested at Land rum, S. C., on May 3 by Police Chief Joe Hightower and charged with driving while drunk. Accord cording to reports from Landrum, he failed to appear for trial later. rantner s request lor revocation of the suspension was made at a hearing before Hearing Officer Ralph Stephens of the Depart ment of Motor Vehicles. Redden said the revocation was asked on the grounds that Panther had not been informed of a hear ing, that he had not signed or posted bail, that no warrant had been served and that the defend ant had not been told to report to Landrum for a hearing. A decision is expected in about 10 days.—Asheville Citizen. ALBERT LAWTER Albert Lawter, 45, of Mill Spring died unexpectedly Wednes day at 1:30 p. mi., in a Spartan burg hospital. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ocie Dimsdale Lawter; one daugh ter, Mrs. George Goods of Char lotte; four sisters, Mrs. Leona Gray of Spartanburg, Mrs. Ralph Pack of Landrum, S.
