Knife Cutting At Pea Ridge
Herman Conner was cut with
a pocket knife Saturday night at
Pea Ridge. Woodrow Morris,
charged with the act, was releas
ed fromi Polk County jail on $500
bond before Magistrate J. B. Mc
Kaig for his appearance in Super
ior Court next week.
Constable D. B. Wilson of White
Oak township took Conner to the
j Rutherfordton Hospital for treat
ment. Conner was cut severely
| in the stomach and back. It took
! 23 stitches to sew him up.
| No reason for the affray was
given.
Football Practice Today
Coach David Prince will start
football practice today at 3 p. m.,
at Tryon school gymnasium. AH
boys interested in playing foot
ball this season will meet at the
gym today for instructions and
initial practice. Two sessions
daily will be held until school
starts.
JERRY ATKINS
Jerry Junior Atkins, 18-month
old son of Ralph and Dorothy
Price Atkins of Landrum, died
Monday at 11 a. m., at General
Hospital. He had been ill 10 days.
Surviving' besides the parents
are: two sisters, Judy Ann and
Peggy Jean; and the paternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleve
Atkins of Campobello R-2.
Funeral services will be con
ducted Wednesday at It a. m. at
ML Lebanon Baptist Church by
the Rev.. Toy Howell. Burial will
bet' in the church cemetery.
