■•NTEl® AS SECOND CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POSTOFFICE
_AT TRYON, N. C. UNDER TIIB ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879_
THE TllVl DAILY BULLETIN
rhe World's Smallest I & t Newspaper. Seth M. Vining, Editor
Vol. 26—No. 150 Ti .S >N, N. C. FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 1953
Weather Thursday: High 94, low
58, Rel. Hum. 40 . . . Some people
seemed to have been disturbed
by the Bulletin’s use of the words
“agreement” and “compromise” in
referring to the court action
against Sheriff Loyd B. Panther.
There has been no compromise or
agreement say representatives of
the citizens group. Sheriff Panther
has resigned unconditionally and
his resignation is in the hands of
the County Commissioners to be
acted upon at their pleasure. That
means the County Commissioners
can name a new sheriff any- time
they get ready. The resignation
ended what would have been a long
court fight. Panther’s resignation
to the commissioners was just one
sentence, “I hereby tender by res
ignation as sheriff of Polk County
to be accented at your pleasure.”
. . . In the Johnson-Story case,
Mr. Johnson states that he has
never called Mr. Story a liar
and a thief. . . .
