Volunteers put out the forest fire as there is no ofiicial fire warden. The Tryon Volunteer firemen put out the garbage truck. Only slight damage. If each one would teach one the matter of keeping the streets clean by not throwing trash in tha streets would help a lot. A new flag now decorates the front of the post office building to the delight of those patriotic citizens who know what the flag means to all of us. ... Reyner and Mrs. Clifford Cairns tied for low medal honors with scores of 100 for tne 18 hole qualifying rounds for the Women’s Club Championship Golf Tournament. The first round matches are to be played on or before Saturday, Sept. 5. Other championship flight qualifying scores and first round pairings, follow: Defending champion, Mrs. Pete Mahler, automatically received the No. 1 position and is pared with Mrs. Seth Vining (101); Mrs. Clifford Cairns (100) vs. Mrs. Holland Brady (106); in the the lower bracket, Mrs. W. S. Reyner, (100) will be vs. Mrs. Charles Willard (102) ; Mrs. Henry Barto;j (101) v.s. Mrs. Gaden Corpening, (106). Guernsey Cow Makes Record The registered Guernsey cow, Eskdale Maxim Noah’s Buttercup, owned by John R. Kimberly*of Try on, N. C.f has completed an offi cial Advanced Registry Record of 12,552 pounds of milk and 595 pounds of butterfat, on three times daily milking for 365 days, as a junior two year old. “Buttercup” is the daughter of the registered Guernsey sire, Pan ning Fields Maxim Noah, that h$l 7 daughters in the Performance IWgistar of The American Guern •®y Cattle Club. This reeord was supervised by North Carolina State College and reported to The American Guern sey Cattle Clut for approval.
