White addressed the Christian
Laymen’s League of the Congrega
tional Church Monday night fol
lowing the supper at the Church
House. He outlined the highlights
of his recent trip to the Inter
national Christian Conference held
in St. Andrews, Scotland, and was
impressed with the oneness of
Christian thought. Representatives
from different countries and differ
ent races were all united in Chris
tian fellowship, in freedom of
thought, in desire for a better
world based on Christian principles.
He also told of his visit in London
to Mrs. Porter, mother of L. C.
Porter of Tryon; and he saw the
Queen and the rest of the Royal
family.
Mrs. Stowell Wasson of River
Forest, 111., is visiting her daugh
ter, Mrs. George Vosburgh and
family.

Mrs. C. R. Nichols, Polk County
Council President and Chairman
of the 6th District will tell of
her recent trip to Boston, Mass.,
where she attended the annual
meeting of the National Council of'
Home Demonstration Clubs. Mrs.
Nichols attended this meeting to
gether with 1,035 women from five
countries of the world. She was one
of 27 delegates and one advisor
from North Carolina.
The Associated Country Women
of the World meet jointly with the
National Council of Home Dem
onstration Clubs annually.

Dr. Wilburt Cornell Davison,
dean of medicine and professor of
pediatrics at Duke University, is
in Tryon as the guest of Dr. W.
S. Rankin at Twin Gates on Mel
rose Avenue.
Dr. Davison is a native of
Grand Rapids, .Mich., Princeton
graduate, Rhodes Scholar at Ox
ford, M. D., from Johns Hopkins,
honors from Wake Forest. Univer
sity of North Carolina and other
universities, as well as a leader ih
national and international medical
affairs. He is also the author of
' numerous medical and scientific
articles and papers. And during
World War I served with ARC
in Serbia and France.
Dr. Davison is considering
Tryon as a place for retirement
when that time comes.
