and *Mrs. Alfred Laughter and
Fred Revis, 14, ^gn of Mr. and -
Mrs. Herbert Revis, both" of Sa
luda, were injured Tuesday noon
at Saluda intersection of Highway
176 with Henderson Street. Their
bicycle collided with an auto driv
en by Joe B. Melton of Inman.
Revis was treated for minor in
juries at St. Luke’s Hospital, but
Laughter ite still in a serious -con
dition at the hospital, and is un
conscious part of the time . . . To
day’s Spartanburg Herald has a

Landrum's new $140,000 filter
nlant which was put into operation
Tuesday for the Landrum water
system. The pumping facilities
are located near Lake Lanier on
property donated by the J. E. Mor
gan Estate. A number of Tryon
citizens are consumers of the
Landrum system which officials
state is as good as the larger
cities use except on a smaller
scale. Landrum Council hopes the
new nlant will take care of the
growth of the town for a number
of years. Five new fire hydrants
have been installed and a number
of larger pipes put in to mcrease

The Tryon Tigers went through
a long session on fundamentals and
topped it off with a scrimmage
Tuesday as they prepared for
District Three (Cowpens-Pacolet)
at Cowpens Friday night.
Fred Ashley and Lynnwood
Thompson missed the rough work
because of injuries suffered in 'the
| Hendersonville game. Both should
be ready to go Friday. Allan
Pruette and Furman .Walker
showed up well defensively, while
Kite Biedler, Raleigh Parker, and
Jim Bailey racked up long gains

To Kiwanis Club

Barnette gave a report of the re
cent Kiwanis Convention of the

in Columbia, S. C. Delegate Bar
nette reviewed some of the speech
es and gave some of the high
; lights of the various events. He
reported that it was a very suc
i cessful convention.
A special feature of the pro
I gram was a quartet composed of
Manuel Holthouser, Harold War
rington, Howard Greene and Fred
Swann, who sang “Daisy”. The
quartet was directed by Dr. Geo.
S. Vosburgh Jr.
