An invitation for the tired visitor. This property belongs to everyone who have eyes to appre ciate it. The same goes for the streets and vacant lots. When you see men throw cigarette papers, drinking cups and other trdsh op the streets and in the parks or vacant spaces, you know they are damaging your property, because they spoil the beauty your eyes want to enjoy. They don’t know they are violating a state law which stamps them as not law abiding; they don’t know that other people are watching them and classifying them as certain kinds of citizens—uncooperative, mditterent, and lacking in good taste. Some of thevpoorest people have the best manners. They wouldn’t think of ^throwing a scrap of paper in front of your door or out of their automobile in front of your place. And your place is everywhere you ride or walk and can appreciate beauty with your eyes. The other fellow pays taxes on* it or the state ho\ds title to it, but only the fellow who can see it and appreciate it really owns it. The more .‘Ditinned <>v Back I'aye_ Many Improvements Made By the Town of Tryon The Town of Tryon has been busy hardsurfacing many roads in the past two weeks. Town Man ager Claude Smfth stated that the town had laid 25,500 yards of black top. The black top has been extended on Howard Street to where it joins Newmarket Road near the bride on Vaughn’s Creek. An unnamed street that leads off Howard Street at Roseland Park has been paved to the city limits. Other streets that have been paved include Payne Street, Pine Street, Glen Cornoch Road, Glen Walden Lane and Salley Lane (up Doden hoff Hill, behind Butler’s Dairy). This n is 1% miles long, and 5 fi c uydrants have been connected to the line. Trade Street is being widened at the railroad between the two crossings to allow cars more space'm which to park and give more room to passing traffic. HOSPITAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Rhodes of Saluda are parents of a son, born October 21, at 6 p. m. Other new patients include Mrs. Marion Smith, Columbus; Mrs4 Clyde Conner, Saluda. Parents discharged include Mrs. Fred Gibbs, Tryon. The Columbus and Tryon Pres byterian Churches will show a movie Friday night at the Co lumbus church, “Faith for Every Child.”
