Congregationalists are holding a
holiday festival Wednesday offer
ing things to sell such as hand
made articles, baby things, chil
dren’s toys, games, baked goods
such as pies, cakes, cookies, nobby
craft jewelry, greens and deco
rations for Christmas. This sale
begins at 2:30 and is open to the
public. Along about 5:30 and until
8:30 a turkey dinner will be
served for $1.50. This is for the
public m general as well as visi
tors and members of the parish.
The money raised will go toward
the building fund. . . . ’ Do you
want to have a part in lighting
the Christmas trees on Trade
Street? This is a community* af
fair, the gift of all those who
contribute and wish to spread good
cheer to others, to the stranger
within our gates as well as to our
- friends. When people volunteer
their gifts it is easier to get
others to volunteer their services.

SMITH-HINES WEDDING
Miss Margaret Nell Hines,
daughter of W. D. Hines and the
late Mrs. Hines of Columbus, and
Horace S. Smith, son of Mf. and
Mrs. J. L. Smith of Tryon R-l,
were married Saturday afternoon
at 4 o’clock at the pastorium of
the Columbus Baptist Church with
the Rev. LeRoy D. Lappard,
pastor, officiating in the double
riner ceremony.
The bride and groom entered
together unattended. The ceremony
was performed in the presence of
the two immediate families and
a few close friends. A program
of. weeding music was given by
Miss Eunice Cloud, pianist, and
Mrs. Clarence Rhodes, vocal solo
ist.
The pride wore a lavender suit,
