Post Office Open Saturdays
Postmaster G. I. Henderson
stated Tuesday that the Tryon
Post Office will be open Saturday
afternoons from now until after
the Christmas rush.

BASKETBALL CAPTAINS
Monday the Tryon High teams
elected captains for the 1953-54
basketball season.
Myrna Constance and Hazel Ed
wards were elected girls’ cap
tains while Kite Biedler and
Raleigh Parker were elected to
lead the boys. Both teams will
go against Campobello High to
night in the Tryon gym with the
girls’ game starting at 7; 30.
Probable starters for Tryon
girls: Hazel Edwards, Ann Moon,
Margaret Blackwell, Myrna Con
stance, Kay Dedmondt and Lila
Hancock. Boys: Bill Hines, Kite
Biedler, Ronnie Ross, Raleigh
Parker, and Jim Ballew or John
Bradshaw.
Dr. Vosburgh On TV Tonight
Dr. George S. Vosburgh Jr.,
will be a guest singer on Arthur
Smith’s. Cracker Jacks program
tonight (Tuesday) over WBTV
Charlotte which begins at 9:30.
Dr. _ Vosburgh- was invited to
sing in Charlotte following the
talent hunt program held in Try
on last month.
Dr. Vosburgh's sister, Carol
Richards, sings on TV from Holly
wood every Monday night on NBC
with the Dennie Day program,
but it is not carried by Charlotte.
She was seen locally Monday, Nov.
30, on the nationwide muscular
dystrophy program. Her voice is
in two popular movies substitut
ing for actresses unable to sing.
She is the voice of Vera Ellen
in “Call Me Madam” and also the
voice of the actress singing The
Resurrection in the movie “The
Robe.” -
