Today is the day of the holiday
festival at the Congregational
Church house where all sorts of
things are being sold beginning
at 2:30. , Place for everybody to
get the unusual for Christmas
presents. A turkey dinner will be
served from 5:30 to 8:30. Tickets
are being sold to the public. Money
to be used for building fund . . .
Maurice Puckett of Tryon and
Asheville'was elected a director of
the Asheville Chamber of Com
merce in the election conducted
by mail this week. John M. Carroll
is the new president. Mr. Puckett,
who is president of the Thermal
B°lt Telephone Co., of Tryon, is
also owner of the George Van
derbilt Hotel in Asheville . . . .
Miss Ida Acker says she and a
group made a trip to St. Peters
burg, Fla., last Christmas and
saw many communities lighted up
for the Christmas season, and
they came to the conclusion that

Country Club Bridge Results
At the Tryon Country Club
Bridge Party held Tuesday for
club members and their guests
first prize went to M!rs. George
Newhall; second to Mrs. George
Lawrence; third to Mrs. Wilbur
Bucher and fourth to Mrs. Jack
Craig.
The guest prize went to Mrs.
William Gilchrist. There were 30
women participating in the play
and the hostesses for the day
were Mrs. Walter Brent and Mrs.
A. R. Herron.
The next party will be held on
Jan. 12, 1954.

Hospital include Mrs. Mack Bur
rell, Tryon; Mrs. Herbert Jack
son and Mrs. Bryson Gibson of
Columbus. Patients dischaged in
clude Mrs. Carl Pace/ Tryon and
Albert Ravan, Landrum.
,Mr. and Mrs. Junior Helton of
Campobello, S. C., are parents
of a boy born Dec. 8th, at 7 p. m.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Searcy of
Saluda are the parents of a girl
born Dec. 8, at 4:02 p. m.
