POLK SOLDIER KILLED
IN AUTO ACCIDENT
A Polk County soldier returning
home for Christmas holidays was
killed in an auto accident at
Roberta, Ga., Saturday morning.
No details were immediately
available here on the accident in
which Pvt. Charles Foster, 25, was
fatally injured.
Pvt. Foster was the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bain Foster of Saluda.
Route No. 1.
He was stationed at Fort Ben-"
ning, Ga., and was a native of
Polk Cohnty and member of the
Friendship Baptist Church near
Saluda.
Surviving besides the parents
are four sisters, Mrs. Margaret
Newman of Lynn, Mrs. Clarence
Whitesides of Sialuda and Betty
and Jean Foster of the home; and
five brothers, Bill, Bain Jr., John,
Mickey Ray and Robert Allen Fos
ter.
The body is being returned to
Saluda and funeral arrangements
will be announced by McFarland
Funferal Home of Tryon.
BRIDGE RESULTS'
Winners in the Master Point
Tournament at Oak Hall Friday
were as follows:
First, William B. Woodson and
Chester D. Ward; second. James G.
Crowley and Phil Harris; third,
Mrs. Baxter Haynes and Jules
Feder; fourth, Mrs, William S.
Johnston and James C. Jackson.
Next game to be played at Oak
Hall will be on Friday, January 8.
There will be no game scheduled
on Dec. 25, or Jan. 1, on account
of the holidays.
The Spartanburg Bridge dub
announces a Master Point game
to be placed on Monday, Dec. 21,
